I love to read quotes of all sorts. From singers to philosophers. Here are a few I find particularly pertinent.
On the people voting Barack Obama into office:
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
Benjamin Franklin
On the economy and the govt.'s massive debt:
"The people will save their government, if the government itself will allow them."
Abraham Lincoln
"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."
Abraham Lincoln
Regarding Moderates:
"In politics the middle way is none at all."
John Adams
On Obama's study of FDR's Disastrous New Deal:
"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."
Edmund Burke
On Politics in general:
"While all other sciences have advanced, that of government is at a standstill - little better understood, little better practiced now than three or four thousand years ago."
John Adams
On whether we are a Christian nation:
"It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible."
George Washington
"What ever disunites man from God, also disunites man from man."
Edmund Burke
"There is but one law for all, namely that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity - the law of nature and of nations."
Edmund Burke
"Rebellion against tyrants is obedience to God."
Benjamin Franklin
"Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right. "
Abraham Lincoln
On the right to bear arms:
"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth."
George Washington
"Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion... in private self-defense."
John Adams
On Freedom and Liberty:
"Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as a heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors."
Abraham Lincoln
"The true danger is when liberty is nibbled away, for expedience, and by parts."
Edmund Burke
"The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."
Benjamin Franklin
"That government is best which governs least."
Thomas Paine
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
Thomas Paine
"All that's necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke
"We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution."
Abraham Lincoln
"Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties."
Abraham Lincoln
These men were among the ones who gave us our Freedom, our Liberty, and the opportunity to pursue happiness. It is by these men that we now enjoy life in the greatest country in the world. I implore you to take action. We can no longer be known as the Silent Majority. We must make ourselves heard. We are the voice of freedom. These men understood the sacrifices that must be made for freedom from generation to generation. They understood the pitfalls of any form of government. They new Freedom must be fought for constantly, tooth and nail. Do not let your voice go unheard. Join a protest this April 15th. I will be at New Jersey's State Capitol next Wednesday to participate in my local Tax Day Tea Party. In fact, I'm singing the National Anthem there, and possibly saying a few words regarding the Liberty we enjoy today, what it took to procure Liberty, how it must be constantly protected, and how it is being attacked today. It is a humbling responsibility, and one I feel is very important at a time as crucial as this. Washington said, "The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon." Our government has lost it's way, for it certainly has abandoned it's guide. I implore at this crucial time to get involved.
Read Mark Levins Liberty and Tyranny: A conservative manifesto. Read Paine's Common Sense, and The Federalist Papers. Read the writings of the framers, for it is in their wisdom which our Country planted roots. It is in their wisdom that our Country has thrived. It is in their wisdom that we will find our way back to the path the Constitution clearly paved for us, a path our government has strayed very far from.
